Impressions: Twisted Metal 4

Sweet Tooth, I’ve missed you. Sad thing is, your return makes me wish you had never came back. Sony and Jaffe built this game up so much in recent weeks and got me really fired up and excited for it’s release. Sadly, like every other sequel, it was too much of the same.

When I first heard that Twisted Metal was coming to PS3, I was ecstatic! I wondered how they can make this title fresh again. Much like the Final Fantasy XIII-2 game, I don’t find it too compelling, but I still find myself playing the game. So… in a sense… Sony did something right. I don’t want to jump the gun and say that a driving FPS hybrid is a bit outdated because Twisted Metal 4 is still very fun with mulitple players.

Playing death matches with the CPU are challenging, but definitely horrible. I don’t know if I just suck at this game or if the CPU is just fine tuned to be amazing. I’m going with the latter. Just saying. The single player campaign is pretty detailed. There is a lot of focus on the plot this time around. There are three different plots play out in Twisted Metal story mode, starting with Sweet Tooth, then moving onto Mr. Grimm and finally Dollface. I haven’t even scratched the surface of the story mode, but will soon and give a full review on it.

Until then, I’m enjoying the hell out of the multiplayer and online modes. It’s just fun to drive around and unleash hell.
