Fox’s ‘Touch’ is Poised to Be TV’s Next ‘Lost’

Spoiler-free!

Ladies and gentlemen, the search is over.  We’ve found TV’s next big thing.  Heroes’ creator Tim Kring is back with his latest creation that feels like the best parts of  the films ‘The Knowing’, ‘Da Vinci Code’, mixed with the performances from  ’Lost’.  To this day, I’ve always felt like the inaugural season to ‘Heroes’ is probably the best ever in television history before the writer’s strike and the lack of innovative ideas led to its demise. Well, luckily for us, Tim Kring is back with a brand new show. The show at its core uses one mathematical theory, the oft-cited Fibonacci sequence, and takes it to a whole new level.  It’s a wold of numbers much like the one Neo sees in ‘The Matrix’ trilogy, except without the agents and the flying nonsense.

If you’ve been following me on GameFob, I’ve been waiting through television shows like ‘Flash Forward’, ‘The Event’, ‘V’, ‘Falling Skies’, ‘Terra Nova’, ‘Grimm’, ‘Once Upon A Time’, and ‘Alcatraz’, but nothing still doesn’t grab you like the J.J. Abrams/Damon Lindelof creation that ended its run in May 2010.

What sets ‘Touch’ apart from the previously mentioned heirs to the throne is the collective acting performances, the writing, and the well-placed intrigue.  We’re given a character that we can root for in Martin Bohm, portrayed by Keifer Sutherland. The premiere does a good job of introducing the numerous worldwide character slowly, with enough time to invest in each.  After the premiere, you have this feeling that the show has a huge upside with the potential to keep viewers hooked.  Casting of a diverse and talented group of actors that include veteran Danny Glover and the smoke monster from ‘Lost’ doesn’t hurt its chances either.  ’Touch’ is much like ‘Heroes’ with its worldwide geographical range of locations, but the connections between each location is smart.

Fox is seriously on a roll with its latest releases – ‘Terra Nova’, ‘Alcatraz’, and ‘Touch’, but if I had to bet my money on a show that’s going to last – I’m going to roll with ‘Touch’.  Once viewers watch the pilot, I think it’s going to be ‘Lost’ all over again.

Fox aired a preview on January 25th, but ‘Touch’ will officially start its run on television on the Fox network on March 19, 2012 in case you missed it. You can also catch it ‘On Demand’.  Don’t miss out!
