Green Arrow TV Series Coming To CW!
Deadline has reported that The CW and DC comics have found their next project. After a failed Wonder Woman pilot, the next hero to be featured on The CW after Smallville’s 10 year success story will be The Emerald Archer, The Battling Bowman, ladies and gentlemen…. Green Arrow!
Okay okay, so Oliver Queen may be the second rate Bruce Wayne. To tell the truth, I don’t even think the two belong in the same sentence, but it’s hard not to love the brash attitude of Green Arrow. Sort of reminds me of a young Cary Elwes.
With the decision by The CW to push Green Arrow, many fans are wondering if Justin Hartley, who played Green Arrow in Smallville, will or won’t reprise his role as good ol’ Ollie. Shake up the magic 8 ball and what do you get? All signs point to no. Here’s what Deadline had to say:
Justin Hartley is not involved in the new project, however. Here’s who is on board developing the show: Executive producers/writers are Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters) and Marc Guggenheim (FlashForward), who also both worked on last year’s Green Lantern, along with Andrew Kreisberg (Vampire Diaries, Fringe). Berlanti Productions is producing in association with Warner Bros. Television.
It is still possible that the show will be a part of Smallville‘s continuity but with a different actor in the role, but with a completely new creative team behind the show it’s extremely unlikely. We do have some additional info from the ever reliable Deadline..
I hear that David Nutter is interested in directing the project, which takes the comic book character, created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, and sets him in a new world with an original story that is not based on the comics.
Isn’t that lovely? Faithful to the comics. I wonder how long that will last? Whatever direction they chose to go towards, I’m very happy to see that Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow will be finally getting some love. Not that there’s anything wrong with Batman and Superman, but they’ve been sort of hogging the spotlight. Stay tuned here on GameFob for more news on the matter!
