Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Will Get Graphic Novel By DC/Vertigo

You have read right! DC Comis Vertigo imprint will adapt a graphic novel to the Steig Larsson crime novel, The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo. The book will be released in November 2012. Here’s a preview of the cover art below:

“We’re thrilled to be adapting this incredible story into a series of graphic novels,” stated Karen Berger, executive editor, Vertigo. “Denise, Lee, Leonardo and Andrea have such great passion for the material and stylistically they’re a perfect match to bring it to comics life. Their beautifully dark and visceral work will certainly blow us all away.”

DC is bringing in Scottish writer Denise Mina who has previously worked on acclaimed titles, Deception and Field of Blood. Mina has also written for the Vertigo imprint, Hellblazer series and most recently, A Sickness In The Family. She is considered the leading international crime fiction novelist.

Along with Mina, Lee Bermejo will be added to the team. Bermejo who is coming off of the graphic novel Batman: Noel, a New York best-seller and follow-up to the 2008 book, Joker. Bermejo and Mina have worked together before on Vertigo’s Hellblazer series. Although Mina is considered to be the alpha-dog in the Larsson book, Bermejo is also considered one of the best in crim graphic novles.

What is a comic book without it’s artist? Argentinean artiest Leonardo Manco has also worked on the Hellblazker series, while Italian artist Andrea Mutti first worked with Vertigo on the graphic novel, The Executor. DC is apparently taking a very serious approach to the first book of the “Millennium Series.”

DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint is working closely with the estate of Stieg Larsson and Hedlund Literary Agency to adapt the book, which will be released in November 2012.
