MLB: The Show Designer Leaves For EA’s Madden

Kolbe Launchbaugh. A name that probably you have never heard of and don’t try and lie and say that you have. Launchbaugh, has worked with Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) for the past 15 years. He has worked on MLB: The Show since ’06 and started as a ‘game tester’. He worked his way up from the bottom and become one of the most influential in MLB: The Show’s prominence.

If you’ve never touched an MLB: The Show game, you’re missing out. MLB: TS is possibly one of the best sports games out there. The franchise mode is amazing, Gameplay has come a long way since 2006 and has been stunning ever since. He eventually became supervisor and overseer of all MLB: The Show projects.

Launchbaugh announced via twitter that he will be taking a position as Creative Director on the Madden franchise. This is big news for the Madden franchise because current Madden NFL designer, Mike Young has come out to say that he’s not going anywhere. Trouble in paradise, EA? Well, I’m a giant fan of the MLB: The Show franchise and would love to see some teaks in the creative department of the Madden franchise. I’m tired of a $60 update, I want some change!

Could we be seeing a revamp in the Madden franchise with the split in the creative department or will we see a new direction for the new next gen of gaming platforms? Share your thoughts!
