Remembering Andy Whitfield
One of my favorite offerings on the Netflix Instant Stream was Starz’s ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ (Season 1). The star of this revolutionary show lost his battle to non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a common cancer that attacks the immune system, which he was originally diagnosed 18 months ago.
Thinking back at the 13-episode season where Whitfield first graced the screen in the lead role. He, like the rest of the class, performed with more than just their looks. They really brought some of the finest acting performances on-screen and Whitfield’s performance is comparable to Russell Crowe’s in ‘Gladiator’. Whitfield’s portrayal of Spartacus from soldier to slave and navigating the tricky politics within the House of Batiatus was solid. Spartacus also seems to be a hit all over the South Pacific as I hear the show has followers as far as Fiji.
Andy Whitfield – GameFob will miss your memorable contribution to TV with the revolutionary Spartacus: Blood and Sand Season 1.
